Top 10 Entrepreneurs In Ghana (2022 – 2023) – OMHBG listed Ghana’s top business executives and entrepreneurs. The rating is based on an executive poll of prominent businesspeople conducted as part of the Ghana Business Report. The list is headed by businessmen Osei Kwame Despite, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Kevin Okyere, and Kwabena Darko.

The study team asked the participants to choose the top five business figures in Ghana. The interviewees nominated 15 leaders anonymously.

Ten leaders were a common vote among our respondents among the 15 people nominated, with five of the top businessmen standing out from the pack and emerging as the main business figures in Ghana.

List Of Top 10 Entrepreneurs In Ghana (2022 – 2023):

#1 – Dr. Osei Kwame Despite is the proprietor of Despite Corporation Ltd, a trade company with media subsidiaries including Peace FM, Ghana’s largest and most popular FM station, Okay FM and Neat FM in Accra, and Hello FM in Kumasi. Despite this, he established Neat Foods Ltd to process native plantains, cocoyam, maize, and palm fruits. He also owns Antona Foods Ltd, a manufacturing firm, and is a Co-Founder of U2 Salt, a salt mining company based in Winneba. Dr. Osei Kwame Despite also co-founded United Television (UTV), a major TV station in Ghana, and is the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd, a well-known financial company in Ghana.

#2 – Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a Ghanaian politician and business magnate who represents Assin Central in the New Patriotic Party in Parliament. He was initially elected as a Member of Parliament for Assin North in 2000. He was re-elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and 2008. He was first elected to the new seat of Assin Central in 2012, and he was re-elected in 2016. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is the owner of several businesses, including Oman FM, Ash FM, Net 2 TV, Super Care Company Ltd, Mina D’oro Ventures, M/S Imperial World Business Ltd, and Gold Coin Communication.

#3 – Kevin Okyere is a Ghanaian entrepreneur that works in the oil business. He is the billion-dollar oil business Springfield Energy’s founder and CEO. The firm was established in 2008. The block, known as West Cape Three Points Block 2, was awarded to Okyere’s business by Ghana’s government in 2016 after Kosmos abandoned it. Furthermore, the corporation is the market leader in the shipment of refined goods to landlocked neighboring nations like as Mali and Burkina Faso, as well as Nigerian crude. He was named “Man of the Year” in the Oil & Gas category at the 2019 Emy Africa Awards.

#4 – Dr. Kwabena Darko is an entrepreneur, religious pastor, and former politician. He is the owner of Ghana’s largest privately held agro-industrial firm and is recognized in “Who’s Who in World Poultry.” Many in the sub-region refer to Darko as the “Poultry King.” In April 1967, he established Darko Farms & Company, a chicken farm. Darko has previously served as a director of Ghana’s central bank, the Bank of Ghana, and chaired Opportunity International’s Global Network from 1997 to 1998. In addition, he created and oversees a 600-member Christian church in Kumasi, Ghana.

#5 – Kwabena Kesse is a successful entrepreneur and businessman with over 20 years of group management expertise. Kessben Travel and Tours, Kessben Driving School, Kessben Computer School, Kessben Shipping and Forwarding Ltd, Fosua Hotel & Conference Centre, Kessben University College, Kessben Consult, Kessben Foundation, and Kessben FM Ltd are all part of the Kessben Group of Companies. He also has a controlling interest in Multi Credit Savings and Loans Ltd.

#6 – Daniel McKorley is the founder and CEO of the McDan Group of Companies in Ghana. He holds a Business Management degree and has been a business owner for over 10 years. At the Ghana Aviation Awards, McKorley was named “Entrepreneur of the Year 2016.” In 1999, he established the McDan Shipping Company. The firm is based in Accra, with branches in Tema and Takoradi. Due to collaborations with Universal Freight Organization, Cross Trades, and World Cargo Alliance, McDan Shipping Company has a presence in over 2,000 major air and sea ports worldwide (WCA).

#7 – Nana Kwame Bediako is a Ghanaian entrepreneur, real estate developer, and philanthropist. He established the Kwarleyz Group, a conglomerate with holdings in construction, real estate and property development, hotels, and telecommunications. Wonda World Estates, Petronia City Development (a 2,000-acre master-planned city development in Ghana), New Africa Construction, and Belfast City & Property Management are all part of the Kwarleyz Group. Bediako is also the Chairman of the New Africa Foundation and serves on the Board of Sujimoto Construction in Nigeria.

#8 – Kwasi Twum is the founder and CEO of Multimedia Group, well recognized for establishing Ghana’s first privately owned radio station (Joy FM). Twum is an Aspen Institute Africa Leadership Initiative fellow, a member of the Ghana Employers’ Association’s Executive Council, and the immediate past President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters’ Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana. In 2010, he was awarded by the Ghana Journalists Association for his commitment to the expansion of the media, and in 2012, he was named the country’s Sixth Most Respected CEO by PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Previously, he served as the Executive Chairman of Ridgecrest Services Limited.

#9 – Dr. Kwaku Oteng is the owner of a group of companies in Ghana’s herbal medicine, broadcasting, drinks, and transportation industries. He is also regarded as a philanthropist who has provided scholarships to deserving students throughout the years. He made his imprint on the economic world in 2001 with Angel Herbal Products Industry, which began a shift in the herbal medicine market. Following this achievement, he founded the Angel Group of Companies. Angel Broadcasting Services Ltd, Angel Transport and Trading Ltd, Angel Estate and Construction Ltd, Angel Natural Mineral Water Ltd, and Adonko Bitters Ltd are all part of the group.

#10 – Nik Amarteifio is a Ghanaian entrepreneur that is interested in media as well as other areas such as mining, real estate, and oil and gas. He is the CEO and Founder of Omini Media, which owns the Citi FM and Citi TV franchises. Amarteifio is a prominent investor who has held executive roles on the boards of International Gold Resources, Magnesium Alloy Company Ltd, and African Selection Company. Amarteifio also worked as the Marketing Manager for Nestle Ghana and was a member of the Ghana Investors Advisory Council, which was founded to assist former President John Kufuor on foreign direct investment policies. From 2001 until 2008, he was also the lead Director on the board of the Bank of Ghana.

Our interviewers considered a variety of Ghanaians, but picked their nominations based on their country’s influence and power. The corporate world has acknowledged their creativity, inspiration, broad-reaching activities, and generosity.
