Too many individuals are unhappy with themselves. They are always critical of their own flaws and limitations. They replay their mistakes and failures and refuse to forgive themselves. “If only I were taller, had a better personality, and looked like my cousin,” they lament. They are critical of themselves rather than appreciating themselves as a masterpiece created in the image of God.
They wonder why they are unhappy and why they do not have healthy relationships. It’s because they’re unhappy with themselves. You won’t get along with other people if you don’t get along with yourself. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself,” Jesus stated. You cannot love others unless you first love yourself.
