Minister Samsong, full name Samson Uche Mogekwu, was born on November 30, 1974. Minister Samsong is a Nigerian gospel singer living in Abuja. He’s had a great music career, with radio successes like Bianule and a slew of awards including The Psalmist Award in 2000 and being nominated as “best Gospel Artist” by the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) in New York in 2008.
He has shared the stage alongside gospel legends like as Marvin Winans, Donnie McClurkin, and Panam Percy Paul, as well as mainstream musicians such as Donell Jones, Kenny Latimore, 112, 2Baba, D’Banj, Faze, and Styl Plus.
Samson Uche was born in the Nigerian state of Delta. He found his vocal skills in high school. He was also known as Samsong throughout high school.
He went to college, majored in accounting, and graduated from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo state.

Samsong founded the Praise Creation quartet. They were signed to Ivory Music Label and released their debut album, “Best of Life,” in 1996.
However, the trio disbanded, and Samsong went solo, releasing his debut CD, “Count Your Blessings,” in 2002. His CD was a hit, receiving airtime and earning him The Psalmist Award that same year. (1) His sophomore album, “Still Counting,” was released in 2004. At this point, Samsong had established himself as a genuine superstar and gospel star, with songs and videos playing on radio and television and gaining top billing at concerts.
He maintained his award-winning trend, winning Best Male Vocalist of the Year at Today’s Music Awards in 2004, and Best Male Vocalist of the Year at The Amen Awards in 2005. He won the Best Video of the Year award at the 2005 Vigoma Awards. His third album, “The World of My Dreams,” was released in 2007 and was his most ambitious release to date. It included a version of music superstar Onyeka Onwenu’s big hit “One Love,” in which he sang a duet with her. The album also included a duet named Live Right with international superstars Styl-Plus. That same year, his ambitious work was rewarded with The Grace Honorary Award for Excellence.
He was nominated for Best Gospel Artist at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) in New York City in 2008. He went on a worldwide tour to promote his new album, stopping in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

He had recorded and performed in Germany with Chris Lass, a well-known German gospel producer and musician. His most recent headline tour took place in August 2009. He had a tour of the island of Seychelles and had supper with Vice President Joseph Belmont.
