Towels were initially manufactured by the firm. The company changed its name to Spintex Limited in the early 1980s and evolved into an integrated textile company that produced high-quality textiles for the Ghanaian and wider African markets. Spintex, on the other hand, faced stiff competition as a result of the flood of secondhand garments from Ghana.

This was due to the liberalization of the Ghanaian economy under the International Monetary Fund and World Bank’s Structural Adjustment Reform Programme, which resulted in the removal of import restrictions.
