Self Biography Of Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi :
I was born on April 17, 1960, in Okija, Anambra State. In 1978, I began my career in business and entrepreneurship by joining my father’s family firm. I was ready to enter the corporate world after around 5 years of careful instruction from my father. I founded his first firm, Obijackson West Africa Limited, which was essentially a trade corporation operating throughout Africa’s West Coast and beyond.
Obijackson quickly rose to prominence as a pioneer in industries such as Oil Servicing, Exploration and Production, Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning (EPCC), Dry Dock Services, Power, Aviation, and Dredging.
Nestoil is our flagship firm and the largest EPCC Company in Nigeria’s huge oil and gas industry. With Neconde’s acquisition of Shell’s OML 42 Oil Field in 2011, we also moved into oil exploration and production. This achievement demonstrates to me that restrictions exist only in the minds of men who choose to acknowledge them. Aside from the remarkable reserves, OML 42 has 6 TCF of gas reserves that will be developed over the next 4-5 years in order to produce about 500 million Scf of gas per day to the local gas market.
Nestoil has effectively consolidated its leading position and carved a new route for indigenous firms in the Nigerian economy’s Oil & Gas and Energy sectors through Innovation and Technology.
Nestoil Limited and its sibling firms, B&Q and Impac, have achieved the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System accreditation. The accreditation, awarded by DQS, a major certification authority located in Germany, formally acknowledges that Nestoil and its sibling businesses have put people, processes, and systems in place to assure the quality delivery of products and services to respective clients at all times.
I am the Founder and Chairman of the Obijackson Foundation, which aims to eliminate poverty via a variety of empowerment initiatives. Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, and Social Welfare are among the intervention pillars of the Obijackson Foundation. The charity oversees the Obijackson Women and Children’s Hospital (OWCH) Okija. The hospital is a cutting-edge paediatric care facility, the first of its type in Eastern Nigeria, serving the medical needs of hundreds of children. Pediatric Surgery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Ambulatory Care, Oxygen Plant Services, and other services are available at this facility. In a safe and reassuring setting, the hospital offers a broad variety of pediatric medical treatments adapted to individual requirements.
The Obijackson Foundation also sponsors the Face of Okija Cultural Festival. Rather than the normal emphasis on physical beauty in pageants, the Face Okija Cultural Festival encourages young people to pursue real African values and principles. Participants are supposed to exhibit distinct African beauty, intellect, and a variety of talents or abilities. The campaign is a ground-breaking endeavor to instill positive African values among Nigerian children.
I graduated from the University of Benin with a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration, and I am the happy recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science and Engineering from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. It has also been an honor to get an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In 2011, I received the Thisday Newspaper Young Global Champion Award for Good Governance and Entrepreneurship Excellence, and in 2012, I received the CNBC Africa / ABN West Africa Entrepreneur Award.
I am an Honorary Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. In 2014, I was also awarded the Industry Achievement of the Year Award by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria [PETAN]. Nestoil was recognised by the London Stock Exchange Group as a Company “To Inspire Africa” in 2017 and 2018.
I am a non-executive director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and chair the board of Smile Telecommunications Limited. I am happily married and have two children.
