Catholic Prayer For A Deeply Troubled Marriage

Catholic Prayer For A Deeply Troubled Marriage : People frequently ask me, “What can I pray to rescue my marriage?” What words will entice my hubby to return? “Does anyone have a prayer for a troubled marriage?”

It might be difficult to pray at times. Especially when you don’t know what to say, don’t have the fortitude, and aren’t sure whether it will make a difference…

Maybe you’re not religious, but you’ve been clutching at anything to bring serenity back into your life…

This is also for you.

I understand. I’ve also been there. And there’s nothing worse than feeling absolutely powerless and helpless – especially when you have no control. When your life is in shambles, it’s difficult to see anything other than the eye of the storm.

Today, I want to reassure you that God hears your prayers for your marriage. All things work together for the good of those who love Him.

Right now, we can’t see the whole picture. But we will one day. And we’ll see how, once again, everything worked out for our benefit. I don’t have any magic words for you that will make things better overnight. Nobody does.

But, if you need some assistance in finding the right words to pray, I wanted to share this with you:

God, I know You are good, even though I cannot see it right now. Even if I don’t feel You right now, I know You love me.

Please, God, become closer to me. Please fill me with Your Spirit. Remove the resentment and hurt I feel against my husband from my heart. Provide me with solace, strength, and knowledge. Pour forth Your love on me, my partner, and my marriage. Please assist me in waiting. Be with me as I wait.

I’d want to ask you to consider what God could be showing you via this. He has not abandoned you, even if you feel alone. Even though you feel feeble, that is when His power shines through. Stay the course if you believe He isn’t responding.

And while you’re waiting:

Look for people in your life that you can encourage. It’s easy to get caught up in our own problems…but there are so many others who are also struggling. We rely on one another.

Be especially aware of the benefits you do have in your life. God is most likely answering prayers in other areas, but our focus on our current situation prevents us from seeing it.

We want to pray for you if you need prayers for your marriage. We will chat with you if you need to talk. We will pay attention. We will be supportive. Your situation DOES have a chance.

To say the least, living in a cycle of conflict, resentment, and wrath is draining. It is not a place you want to be, but despite our best efforts, we can sometimes feel “trapped” in this sad cycle of brokenness.

Thankfully, no matter how hopeless we feel, God can heal and restore our relationships.

In our darkest hours of pain and despair, we can call out to God, and He is able to heal what we are unable to repair on our own.

When those all-too-familiar nasty feelings of negativity, unforgiveness, selfishness, and blame begin to chip away at your love for your spouse, it’s time to turn to scripture and prayer.

God provides us the ability to modify our thinking! “But those who wait for the Lord shall regain their strength; they shall soar up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint,” says Isaiah 40:31.

1. Prayer for a Troubled Marriage: A Prayer for the Extraordinary Ability to Love Your Spouses

“Because God chose you to be his holy people, you must cover yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” 3:12 Colossians

Please, by your grace, clothe me with your mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience so that I can love my husband properly. I recognize that I do not have the ability to love my spouse like you do. I need your assistance!

I pray that you will empower me to reject my sinful nature, which desires to be harsh, cruel, haughty, brash, right, and impatient, by the power of your Holy Spirit. Give me the capacity to pause before speaking so that my words come from a place of love rather than judgment.

When I feel justified in my cruelty, remind me that I am held to a higher standard and must first answer to you.

Give my spouse, through your grace, the capacity to live as a holy person, completely conscious of your tremendous love in their lives. Assist me in treating them in a way that displays your heartfelt affection for them. Remind me on a regular basis that we are both God’s children, valuable and loved by you!

Change the tone of our communications. Remove the tension, irritation, and self-centeredness that so readily enters our conversations. Replace this with love, comfort, understanding, and a sacred alliance. Amen.

2. A Forgiveness and Marriage Healing Prayer

“As a result, confess your faults to one another and pray for one another in order to be cured.” As it is, a decent person’s prayer has immense power.” James 5:16

Lord, I know I’ve made mistakes in my marriage. Sin has come in the way of my being faithful to love my spouse properly at various stages of our relationship. I confess my transgressions to you and seek for your forgiveness.

Would you please open my spouse’s heart so that they may genuinely forgive me? Jesus, by your grace, give us a new beginning in our marriage. I invite your restorative and healing qualities into our partnership.

Heal the shattered areas that only you can repair.

I thank you that you hear my prayers and that prayer has immense power.

Hear my plea for assistance and do a new task in our home that only you are capable of performing. I thank you for bestowing the gift of marriage onto me. Bless our commitment to one another and assist us in honoring you via the way we love one another. Amen.

3. Prayer for a Troubled Marriage: A Prayer for Your Marriage’s Restored Connection and Intimacy

“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill Christ’s rule.” 6:2 Galatians

Would you be willing to assist me in reestablishing the lost connection and intimacy in my marriage? Give me the empathy I need for my husband so that I may share their hardships effectively. Remove any distractions, deadlines, barriers, exhaustion, selfishness, or pride that is keeping us apart as a marriage.

Assist me with prioritizing time spent with my spouse and not allowing our commitments to snuff out every opportunity we have to talk during the day. Give me the skill to respond to them warmly when they want my attention. Restore our trust so that we feel secure confiding our worries and concerns.

Even when my partner and I disagree, assist me to be open to hearing them out. Allow my words and actions to demonstrate that they are loved, safe, and valued by me.

Help me to keep my heart open to them even if I have previously been wounded or disappointed. Knit us back together like only you can. Amen.

4. A Prayer for Your Marriage’s Protection

“But no weapon used against you will succeed on that fateful day. You will silence every accusatory voice shouted against you. These advantages are experienced by the LORD’s servants; their vindication will come from me. I have spoken, O LORD!” 54:17 Isaiah

God, I pray for your divine protection over my marriage. May no scheme of the adversary of my soul succeed in pulling apart what you’ve built. Quiet every wicked idea, voice, scheme, or temptation that is striving to harm our marriage’s sacred connection.

“For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the higher realms,” Ephesians 6:10 states. God, help me to remember that while I fight for my marriage, I am not battling against my spouse or anybody else; rather, this is a spiritual battle. In my hour of need, I turn to you for assistance.

Give us the strength to conquer our difficulties. Help us get people on board who can deepen our partnership. May your wisdom guide our feet and guard us from falling prey to the sin that so easily entangles us. Amen.
